No, but get this, we may have DSL coming here by the end of May. To this
house (I pointed to it when they said it would be in the area). Shocked,
stunned. overjoyed and other such words and phrases that this area, the
poutskirts of the boondocks would actually gt something like that...........
but it means after ten years I will have a different ISP unless I can get
some $10 deal with Mindspring.

Hardware or drivers?

Here's something I run thru with people thinking about upgrading to XP.

Cost factor: Upgrade runs close to $100. Any hardware ned to be changed?
How much would that cost? Need to add more RAM or anything, factor it
in.......if it's close to $300, Dude, you're getting a Dell..............I
can't justify upgrading with a cost to upgrade near that.

Look at what even the cheapest of the Dell computers would get you, faster
CPU, possible more RAM and hard drive space and usually a better video card
(unless that had been upgraded to a GeForce supported card).

I picked up a Dell 8400 before XMas, got a 3 GHz CPU, 1 gig of RAM, 128 meg
video card, 160 gig drive, DVD drive and DVD burner (+/-R,RW and double
layer), USB 2.0 on it 10/100/1000 ethernet already built in, XP Home (I
upgraded it to Pro with a copy I already have) and got the 19 inch flat
panel for $1300.....

Could have done better probably building the system myself but that's okay,
costwise it was close and I didn't have to do anything but throw on XP Pro..

Only if it's a surge protector and not a backup power supply.

Tell them to make arrangments for the battery not coming and explain why.
They'll have something to be able to do surely.

She got lucky (besides meeting me) and has one part of her family way back
to England, another way back to Germany but then the wall does hit as there
is a wall that can't be taken down.. Someone doesn't appear on some records
"when" they should so who knows what direction that one came and when
because the direction definitely stopped after a certain date and they
appear after that date............................................

If I can get in the mood to sit here and write, I have some things to do to
OEBackup. Did write something awhile back that can back up a user's
settings, can't recall if it worked on a network or not, basically be used
to back up stuff on a dead system (hard drive is still usable but not
bootable, etc). As long as a file can be accessed, it can back them up.
Nobody probably have a need for it unless you work on systems.

have fun....
