Adding background sound files

I tried adding a background file to a message today. I sent the intial
messages to myself to confirm that it was working.

The window for adding files includes wma, wav, mp3, and mid. Wav is too big,
so I tried mp3, then wma, and then mid.

The only one that worked was midi files. The received message for wma and
mp3 had no sound file in it. I confirmed this by looking at the size of the
sent files - they were 1k, so obviously no sound files included.

Why was the midi file only thing I could send? I didn't try wav, as even if
it worked, it's too large a file.

In all cases, after presumably adding the sound file, they all played in the
message to be sent, while it was still on screen, before I sent it
