Did you see this one?

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups/reader.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsupdate&mid=aa04601e-0a0e-4a3d-a2a0-a05053bf72a7

Did you use the Security Update CD originally too?
And do you see 887797 in your Add/Remove Programs list?
If so, it means that you probably already have a patch which
supersedes the one you are trying to apply and you should just
ignore any suggestions to install 837009. Perhaps eventually
WU will wake up to this possibility and you won't be reoffered
something you can't use.

BTW although it concerns OE this question is probably
best handled in a newsgroup which specializes in your OS,
since people there will be more familiar with its UI and
quirks such as the one you are seeing.
