Hi Mike,

Is Outlook Express not supported by VBA.
Im not proficient but... just wanted to know from General knowledge /
Curiosity point of view as why MS has not made OE programmable. ( 1 and 2
might have been possible if there was VBA)

for 1 and 2, that's the way it works.
might try using your email address instead of just the name for #1.

Hi,
I wanted to configured a rule in my Outlook express so that any NEWS message
I send/post/reply would automatically get flagged.
I reasoned that any post I send would obviously get downloaded by my
newsreader later, so I went to
Tools - message rules - News and then included a condition saying - "Where
the from line contains Hari" -- "Mark the message as watched.
Problem is
1. Any message having a string "hari" in the from line of message are
getting flagged. Example is somebody has the from line as "Richard harison"
and even those messages are getting listed on the watched status. Can I
somehow specify my email address which I use for posting to Newsgroups as
being relevant for watching. I think I have already tried that and since my
email address is a bigger string than the name display in from line so I
wasnt getting matches. (Am quite confused)
2. Second problem is if I reply to somebody else's post (Im not the
original poster) then the whole conversation doesnt get flagged but only my
reply gets flagged when i receive the mail in my OE. So, on the left side
the "Folders" will display a Bold red font color for indicating messages
which are watched and unread. Now, when I go to that folder I have a big
problem locating that message as I dont know where exactly it is. If the
folder is very big then I have to keep scrolling. down. Also, i keep the
message conversations unexpanded so..) . Also, since only my reply is on
watched status so if i use the message Sort feature ( by sorting on watched
messages) it wont come on the top like rest of the watched messages( I mean
where even the initial post itself was on the watch list.
Actually due to 1. point 2. is causing lots of problems as I configured lost
of newsgroups recently and applied a rule and there are so many newsgroups
which i have never visited but are already on watched status due to the
"Richard harison" kind of case.
Please suggest a workaround.

Hari
