Malescot,
I believe you have a problem somewhere either with a virus or perhaps
malware. I say that because I run XP Professional with SP2 plus all updates.
I operate with Norton's Anti-Virus and Firewall instead of Panda Products
[Panda should be checking your E-mail traffic whether you have set it to do
so or not]. Something is affecting your .exe attachments which is not
affecting mine. I say this because I sent an E-mail to myself [utilizing
another identity of the household] which had an .exe file attached. Upon
receipt, I was able to both open it AND save it to My Documents which is
completely opposite from your results.
Questions:
1. You stated that you have only 20GB free on a 120GB Hard Disk. 100GB of
usage on a drive is a lot of space consumed. What on earth do you store
[graphics, movies, music]? Just my curiosity, nothing to do with the problem.
2. Do you keep your Panda Anti-Virus Program fully updated? If not, do it
now and run a full system scan.
3. Get both Ad-Aware SE Personal [http://www.lavasoft.com/ ] AND Spybot,
Search and Destroy [www.safer-networking.com], install them, fully update
both; then fully scan your system with both.
Submit the results.
