If you have Norton AV or Internet Security and received a "live update"
after December 6th here is what I got from them...It applies to those who
can't send and those who can't receive. Mine was not being able to receive
but as they indicated to me the resolution is the same...by the way once you
are finished replacing the bad "ccemlpxy.dll" file and rebooting you still
may encounter the problem. You may also need to go into
Tools/Accounts/Mail/Properties (from OE's toolbar) and just overtype your
pop and smtp settings under the servers tab. Anyway here's the message I
got from Norton:
Hello Douglas,
Thank you for contacting Symantec Online Technical Support.
I understand from your message that you are encountering the following error
when you attempt to send or receive an email:
"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'sbcglobal.net', Server: 'pop.ameritech.yahoo.com',
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '+OK 30663 octets', Port: 110, Secure(SSL):
No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F."
Douglas, I apologize for any inconvenience or loss of time this issue has
caused you. This issue has more than one cause. Please note that there was
some problem with the Common Client 2.1.4 patch released on December 7th.
Please note that the patch has been pulled off from the server. To resolve
the issue, I suggest that you please refer to the following document from
our Online Knowledge Base:
Title: 'Error: "Your email message to <email address of recipient> with the
subject <email subject> was unable to be sent . . ." (1003,9)'
Document ID: 2002071214223706
> Web URL:
http://service1.symantec.com/support/sharedtech.nsf/docid/2002071214223706
Please note that the solutions provided in the above document are also
applicable for the issue that you are encountering.
Therefore, I suggest that you please follow the document by going through
all the steps in the same order since the issue has been resolved in most of
the cases. In the interim, if you require any additional assistance, please
do not hesitate to contact us. We value your business and appreciate the
opportunity to provide service to you.
Note: Even though your outgoing email will no longer be scanned, Norton
AntiVirus email scanning continues to protect your computer by scanning
incoming email messages. Also, your computer is protected by Auto-Protect.
Auto-Protect scans all incoming files, including email attachments, when the
files are saved to your hard drive.
Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance to you in using
the Symantec product.
Regards,
Girish
