Only when the server indicates that.

To see how it works activate troubleshooting logging for news
and make sure that it has traced both parts of your problem
(the original download and the later deletion).

It will also help if you keep track of the Xref: numbers of your
oldest and newest messages each day while you are diagnosing
your problem. E.g. use Properties, Details to find that.

Note that "oldest" and "newest" would be better expressed
as "smallest Xref:" and "largest Xref" but OE has no way of showing
you that ordering. Therefore the best you can do is turn off Group
Messages by Conversation and approximate that ordering with
View, Sort by Received. Since some of the timestamps which
that ordering exposes may be incorrect you should verify that in fact
you have *probably* found the smallest and the largest Xref: numbers
by looking at the next and previous messages too.

N.B: be aware that OE may crash if the link fails or is stopped
while the trace is active. To avoid this stop the trace before
you shut down and restart it (if necessary) the next time you start.

Good luck
