Reinstalling SP2

I had severe email receiving problems after SP2 was autoinstalled....
Deleting SP2 and compacting solved my problems.....

I am reluctant to reinstall SP2 but am worried about the lack of security if
I do not.....
I have Norton with LiveUpdates......

Any recommendations or suggestions??????????
