PA Bear,

837009 was not in Windows Update.log. This was at the top of iuhist.xml (I
didn't know how much you wanted me to copy). It looked like KB837009
completed on 2004-04-17, 2004-11-02, 2004-11-03, 2004-11-04, 2004-11-05,
2004-11-09, and this one.

Yes, I am posting from the problem machine. If I have a more current update
than 837009 then why does it keep prompting me to load it? I am on a dialup
so it's annoying to wait for it to tell me what the critical update is and
it's the same thing over and over again.

I tried going to Windows Update, got the same critical update, clicked on
"Read more...". I downloaded the update for MS OE 6 (Q837009) and MS OE 6
SP1 (OE6.0sp1-KB837009-x86-ENU.exe). Error when I double-clicked on
Q837009 -- requires Win XP. Error when I doubled-clicked on
OE6.0sp1-KB837009-x86-ENU.exe -- requires Service Pack 1 to be installed.
So apparently I don't have OE 6 SP1. I tried doing a search on Microsoft
but I didn't see any download for OE 6 SP1. I don't see SP1 when I click on
Help | Microsoft Outlook Express. Hmmmm...

Thanks for your help.
Debbie

| Look in Windows Update.log or iuhist.xml (both are files on your machine)
| for errors associated with the attempted install(s) of 837009. Write them
| down and post them in your reply.
|
| Also, Copy/paste the following line into an IE Addressbar, click on GO,
then
| copy/paste the results into your reply:
|
| javascript:navigator.appMinorVersion
|
| Assuming you're posting from the problem machine, your headers indicate
that
| you have a later Cumulative Update for Outlook Express presently installed
| (MS04-018/823353) which supercedes MS04-013/837009 anyway, so it's nothing
| to be overly concerned about.
