Go to Tools | Options | Programs in IE and click on the button that says
reset web settings and see what that does.

So, I've used the group recomendations to make hyperlinks from news groups
and e-mails work i.e. be opened in the Internet Explorer. But as one of the
Russian sayings tells: tail was pulled out of swamp but nose stuck there
and/or visa verse. Now I can't make a shortcut of a site on my destop. What
I'd done I
Scrolled down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol and selected it.
Click Advanced, depending on my Windows version.
Selected 'open'.
Clicked Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" now reads:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
and so on.
I use Windows XP Pro Sp2. After I click on a shortcut I get a
choise-warning: open, save or cancel. If I choose the first option I have
nothing (as if I choose third). If I chose the second option I get a file
that causes a problem to be open and reads something like
[DEFAULT]

Does anybody have any help?
