On a network, you say? Is this an in-house mailserver? Are all users
sharing a common "store" on the server or another machine on the network?

Are they all Win2K machines?
On the problem Win2K machine, Copy/paste the following line into an IE
Addressbar, click on GO, then copy/paste the results into your reply:
javascript:navigator.appMinorVersion
On another Win2K machine, do the same and post those results, too.

What were they? What AV app did you use to run the scan? Did you seek and
install updated definitions before scanning? Did you enable 'Show Hidden
Files' and then run in Safe Mode?

Bad idea. How did you determine which ones you "did not like the look of"?
Did you run HT in Safe Mode, after enabling 'Show Hidden Files'? Did you
post your log to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/,
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30 or another proper forum? Did an
expert at the forum review you log, give you suggestions on what to remove
and then confirm that a new HT log created after "fixing" problems was
"clean"?
If you did not do all of the above (and then some), you can *not* rule out
the presence of hijackware or Trojans on the system.

Is Wanadoo their ISP? Are you sending from a name@wanadoo.xxx (or
name@freeserve.com) mail account?

See above.
-- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE) OP: <paste> I was at a client site setting up there different Pop3 email accounts. BEfore my visit they had one PC which would pick up all the email for each different email box but I changed this around so that the different accounts would go to the different individuals PC's. However, on one of the PC's, when I enetered the exact same username and details, it would always say that an "unkown error" had occured and would let me send any emails although it would seem to check if any were on the server. When I tried the same details on the original PC it worked fine, but then putting the same details into this specific PC would always cause Outlook Express not to send any emails with the "unknown error" error. One other thing I did note that occasionally when I closed Outlook Express it would then give a memory address </paste>
