Hello there,

I am still having problems downloading pop3 emails using Outlook Express on
a particular PC on a clients network. I previously reported this problem to
this newsgroup but unfortunately the suggestions did not resolve it (see
bottom for link).

This particular PC is set up exactly the same as other PC's on the network
but it will just not send emails giving an "unknown error". As an experiment
I tried to install Outlook but this had exactly the same problem. I ran
Adaware, I done a virus scan (I did find three viruses but they have now
been removed) and I tried to disable many start up programs (did not have
msconfig on Win 2000 so used a program I found on the internet which does
the same). I run a scan registry program (regcleaner) and lots of other
maintenance tasks.

I also run a program called HijackThis and removed all things I did not like
the look of. But I cannot shake this problem. Note that down the bottom of
Outlook Express I still have this "Wanadoo" search section (like a web page
in the bottom window above status bar) and it still won't let me send
emails, although I can receive them.

I left the client telling him they needed to re-install windows and they are
going to do this, but at the back of my mind this is bugging me. I want to
know why I could un or where I could look to try and fix this problem.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Dave
