My rant aside [you may feel free to ignore anything prepended with <rant>,
as is customary in newsgroups: it was /not/ directed at you], have you
managed to recover any of the messages?

Do not presume that I am *not* your age, my friend. We all gotta start
somewhere.

As a future fail-safe, it's a very good idea to create periodic backups of
your OE data. A backup would have come in handy right now:
