Daniel, please include all of the previous message in your replies. Thank
you.

Why did you do that? What ones did you move? Do *not* move anything else!

Kath, I believe, wanted you to find and look into this:
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/problems/errors.htm#readonly

In WindowsXP, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as
hidden. To view (and find) these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable
'Show Hidden Files and Folders' under Start>Control Panel>Folder
Options>View.

Find your OE/WinXP store (Tools>Options>Maintenance>Store folder) and see if
all the DBX files are marked Read Only. You may highlight all
(CTRL+A)>Right-click>Properties> and uncheck the Read Only attributes.

Note that your Address Book (http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/wab.htm)
may also be marked Read Only.

If your Win98 OE's folders have gone missing:
Tools>Options>Maintenance>Store folder will reveal the location of your
current Identity's store. Write it down.

In Windows Explorer, search for .DBX files. Any found which are *not*
located in your current store will most likely be those from your Win98
identity. You can Import them using File>Import>Messages....

If you use OL for mail, why are you opening OE? If you're opening a
separate instance of OE to access the newsgroups, consider using the 'OL
Newsreade'r (yes, it's a poorly disguised OE but nevermind that). See OL
Help for, er..., help with this.

NB: When you are using the "OL Newsreader" and you get a prompt asking to
make OE the default newsreader, you should choose "No" ...but it's OK for OE
to be listed as the default in IE Tools>Internet Options>Programs. (Don't
ask! <g>).
