Thanks, Robear,
The problem goes away when I remove the OE shortcut from
my startup folder. Perhaps Windows loads the programs from
the startup folder into an area of RAM that can't
accommodate the amount of memory that OE requires? At any
rate, since that alleviates the problem, I'll just live
with not having OE start when Windows 2K starts.
