A year ago? And still asking about the same "problem"? The OP never
did mention what VERSION of MS Word they were using other than the claim
he was using the latest version(s). Apparently it is the same version
as before. I'm using Word 2002 (part of Office XP) and when I do the
OP's 5-line test (3 lines of text with a blank line between and copy it
from Word to OE) the result in OE is just the 5 lines (i.e., no extra
spacer lines). There is still the defect that a paste may show as a
formatted copy (i.e., fonts, bolding, size, etc.) although the
formatting mode currently selected is plain-text (and why you get stuck
having to toggle between formatting modes so you can see how the e-mail
will look when sent).

I tried some various old tricks when copying text in Word. In a prior
version, hitting Ctrl-A to select all of the document also included a
bunch of garbage codes placed at the end of the document and would screw
up formatting when pasted into an HTML document or, at least, increase
the size of the HTML document for the fluff at the end. So you would
position your insert point at the end of the text and highlight
backwards to eliminate the trailing hidden formatting codes. However,
highlighting backwards or using Ctrl-A and then copying the text in Word
2002 and then pasting in OE did not give me the extra spacer lines the
OP complains about. While I usually use the Print View (so I can see
the document as it will be printed), I also tried switching to Normal
View and doing the copying and pasting and still did not get the extra
spacer lines.

So my guess it that is it a configuration issue, either setting in Word
or OE that is effecting the extra spacer lines on a copy and paste from
Word to OE. If Bear and Jim are getting the same results as Uriel then
I must just be lucky.
