Fixing a computer running Win98SE with IE6 and OE6 and Office2000.
When trying to read emails the following error message appears "This program
has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. MSIMN caused an
invalid page fault in module kernel32.dll at 0167:bff8ffac." ALSO
get the same message with IE6..."Explorer caused an invalid page fault in
module kernel32.dll at 0167:bff8fafc."
AND "Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module kernel.dll at
0167:7fcb1946".
I did a SFC and also replaced kernel.dll with a new one from the Windows
disk - but continued getting the same errors messages.
Reloaded IE6 and OE6 and no change to error messages. The onboard graphics
(Intel 82810E) driver I tried to update but I have the "latest" and a
re-installation of the operating system (over the top of the old one) made
no difference.
Now, in order to get the system working properly again should I reformat the
hardrive (a long and tedious task) and start over or has someone an idea to
help me workaround these error messages?
Thanks for any assistance.
