Problems with using Google Groups:

- New posts can take hours to show up. It seems it is typically 4 hours
before a post will appear on a subsequent poll for new headers. And
this occurs even when using Google Groups' own webnews interface.

- Google is flaky in keeping a thread together. It gives way too much
bias to the Subject line. If posters change the Subject line then
Google Groups will see them as separate threads, so you lose the other
posts. Rather than group posts into a thread based on the References
header, Google Groups uses the Subject header. So i you see a post with
"Download this" for a header and you want to warn other by replying with
a subject of "Download this - SPAM - INFECTED DOWNLOAD", then your post
won't be under the "thread" based solely on Subject that Google Groups
uses.

Google Groups is still great for looking up prior newsgroup posts but be
warned that the newest ones won't show up immediately and you might only
see part of the actual thread.
