Immediately after applying XP SP2, IE started taking a very long time to
load pages with html calls to a web site embedded in the page. OE also has
a similar problem with emails that have html code with calls to a web site
embedded in them. It is not unusual for IE to take 4 - 5 minutes to load
such a page now. Prior to installing SP2 both IE and OE worked just fine.
The problem started immediately after the reboot at the conclusion of the
SP2 install.
I have checked for spyware using both adaware and McAfee's antispy software.
No spyware found. I have tried shutting down both the IE and ZA Pro
firewalls and McAfee virus scan with no improvement.
Out of necessity I have installed Netscape 7.2 which now runs rings around
IE (i.e. 10 seconds for Netscape to load a page compared to 4 minutes for
IE). Netscape mail also does not exhibit the problem that OE does. Also,
there is nothing in the system log or application log that indicates any
problem.
Everything else appears to be running normally with performance improved in
some cases.
Any thoughts on this problem would be appreciated.
