Then don't archive 'em in Sent Items. WYSIWYG.

Sent Items.dbx was already damaged by that point, probably because you never
compact all OE folders.

Folders created as subfolders of another folder are actually unrelated
folders and each will have its own DBX file which is independent of the
parent folder. These folders only display as subfolders; that's one of the
jobs of Folders.dbx.

Start here: http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/problems/bugs.htm#mailgone.

DBXtract

DBXtend (additional functionality)

DBXpress (faster, more powerful, with even greater functionality)

Close OE. Move the associated DBX file(s) to another Windows folder and run
any of the above applications on the moved file(s). If one of the above
applications successfully recovers any messages, count yourself fortunate.
Recovered messages may be dragged into an open OE folder. Do *not* import
the the moved DBX file(s) back into your identity.

All folders under Local Folders in Folders pane are local folders (i.e.,
folders in OE itself, not on an IMAP or HTTP server).

You were fortunate that Sent Items messages didn't disappear a l o n g
time ago. Keep all default folders as empty as possible and compact all
folders frequently per the above.

If the DBX file is damaged in OE and you import it into OL, it's still a
damaged (corrupted) file.

YW. You gotta start somewhere. Hang around, you'll learn more. <wink>
