MSIE is insecure, and MSOE is both insecure and broken. This is just one of
several broken aspects of MSOE. The die-hard MSFT fan can, sometimes, work
around it. MSIE can be made secure, at the expense of the expected
functionality of the original product; but, by the messages being posted
here since the release of XP-SP2, I gather that most MSFT fans prefer
function over security.

If you are not enslaved by MSFT-think, you do have options. The Mozilla
1.7.2 suite (combined browser and mail/news client) is more secure than MSIE
6. Opera 7.54 is also a secure and capable combined browser and mail/news
client. For those who prefer to "mix and match", Mozilla Firebird 0.9.3, a
browser only, is just as secure as Mozilla 0.9.3, and can be mixed with a
choice of stand alone mail and news clients. For combined mail and news one
can get Mozlla Thunderbird 0.7.3, or Forté Agent (paid, not free!). For
stand alone mail clients and news clients, there are Eudora, Pegasus Mail,
and others (email clients), and there are XNews, Forté Free Agent, Gravity,
and others.

MSFT doesn't really own the market on such products, and isn't really as
good as the others you can try. They are just "convenient" because they are
bundled with the OS. If you like "convenient", and security be damned, just
keep on using MSFT products; and keep on swearing at the scum of the earth
who write viruses, browser hijackers, and assorted other scumware.
