Upgrading any application, especially Windows, in hopes of fixing an
existing problem is seldom a good idea, Tanya. It usually only makes trying
to diagnose and fix the problem that more difficult. Your next post in this
thread indicates that you had Registry damage in Win2K and that it'd
followed you when you upgraded to WinXP-SP1.
While I'm glad to hear your Registry edit fixed your problem (your OE and
Address Book problem, at least), understand that Windows relies heavily on
the IE shell and that when you install WinXP-SP1 you're also installing
IE6-SP1. If your install of WinXP-SP1 was any good, you wouldn't have been
able to download and (re)install IE6-SP1 without some very fancy footwork.
Have you ever taken your machine to Windows Update? Copy/paste the
following line into an IE Addressbar, click on GO, then copy/paste the
results into your reply:
javascript:navigator.appMinorVersion
