These can be very difficult to get rid of, I'm afraid.

The usual procedure is to run
* Adaware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
* Spybot Search & Destroy
   http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html
* Hijack This (and get an expert to interpret).

Non-technical users may be able to run Adaware, but the later steps are
usually considered the province of more advanced users.

The newest antivirus programs are getting steadily better at preventing and
even cleaning some of these nasties.
