The Comcast servers send the email to an explicit email address which is
defined in the SMTP protocol as the "RCPT TO:" address. You don't get to see
this "RCPT TO:" address because the MDA, the final mail server which gets
the email, and holds it for you, strips it out. But the RFCs are quite
explicit, and you can't get email which is not destined for your mailbox.
The "To:" email address that you see in your client does not have anything
at all to do with where the email is to be delivered; and it is quite
possible to send an email without having a "To:" email address in the
headers.
If you feel like reading some boring technospeak documents, RFC 2821 and RFC
2822 will explain much of the SMTP mail system.
