Verizon has an online page where you can check your mail. Do any messages
show in your Inbox on this online page which are not being downloaded into
your OE Inbox?

Can you successfully telnet to Verizon's POP3 server? See
http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/pop3telnet.htm.

Is your Verizon account configured in OE exactly like the following?...

<quote>
  1.. In the Incoming mail server field, type incoming.verizon.net.
  2.. In the Outgoing mail server field, type outgoing.verizon.net, then
select Next.
  3.. In the Account Name field, type your Verizon Online user name.
  4.. In the Password field, type your password.

  Note: Selecting the Remember password option lets Outlook Express connect
to your mailbox without asking you for your password. Enabling this feature
is optional.

  5.. Select Next.
  6.. Click Finish to save the new e-mail settings.
  7.. Click Properties. The incoming.verizon.net Properties dialog box
appears.
  8.. Select the Servers tab.
  9.. Select the My server requires authentication check box, then select
Settings.
  10.. Verify Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
Click OK.
  11.. Click OK to save the mail account.
  12.. Click Close to close the Internet Accounts dialog box.
</paste>
