Do you happen to have Win98 with the PowerToy "SendTo" installed?
PowerToy often overwrites the registry of "Desktop as Shortcut".
The CLSID of the "Send to Mail Recipient CMC" extension and "Send to
Desktop as Shortcut" is the same.
If so, here is one site that gives details and provides a registry fix:
http://aumha.org/
Worked for me with no problem.

| Hi, Thank you for your reply but unfortunately it didn't work. I do not

| Have you installed a version of Outlook in addition to Outlook Express? If
| so, it may be an old one that breaks the proper settings for sending. Try
| this and see if it helps:
|
| Click Start, Run and type: REGSVR32 SENDMAIL.DLL
|
| You should get a message of completion and then check to see if it's fixed.
