Bruce,
Hey. Turning off Get xxx headers at a time got it to reload the headers
from the server. A step forward.
It still doesn't remove the messages (so I still have the attachments).
This is the second button in the Local File Cleanup dialog - "Remove
Messages - This will remove all message bodies." It then prompts "Are you
sure you want to remove all locally cached message bodies from all folders?"
Yes, click I. A progress bar indicates it's doing something. Even after
running Compact (top button in Local File Cleanup dialog), I can go to the
newsgroup and see the text of the posts, and any attachments. Same for the
third (Delete) button in Local File Cleanup. None of the four buttons in
that dialog gets rid of the posts.
But the manual delete is does. I'll go with that. It does free up disk
space (per dir command at command prompt, which gives disk space to the
byte, so I know it's working).
Thanks a bunch.
