When run in the default Restricted Sites zone (Tools>Options>Security) with
a fully up-to-date anti-virus application running in the background, using
Preview pane in a fully updated (Windows Update) OE6-SP1 is fairly safe.
However...
We used to advise:
"Don't open attachments from someone you don't know."
Now it's:
"Don't open messages, let alone attachments, that you weren't expecting,
even if it appears to be 'from' someone you know. When in doubt,
ask the sender before opening the message and/or attachment."
