Hi Tim,
Thanks for your reply, but I still can't understand why this is happening
with OE6 on my machine with XP and not on the one running ME where I am
always able to enter spaces between words in the "From" line and also in the
message rule title. I have double checked the OE6 running under ME and you
definitely can enter spaces between words and not have to use "_". In the
"From" entry you can enter for example, "The Daily Draw".
I have just discovered this ONLY happens when making new message rules for
MAIL on the XP machine, but making a new message rule for newsgroups allows
spaces between words in both the "From" line and in the rule title. There
is certainly a difference between the two machines running the same version
of OE. Here is a copy of the entry in message rules for CNET from my
machine running ME, but on the XP machine the entry would read
'DownloadDispatchforWindows' and 'CNETMembership' for both entries where one
requires a space and the other doesn't:
"Apply this rule after the message arrives
Where the From line contains 'CNETMembership ' or 'Download Dispatch for
Windows'
or 'CNET Membership '
Move it to the CNET folder
and Stop processing more rules"
I cannot understand why there is this difference with the same version of
Outlook Express running on both machines. If I copy a line that includes
spaces from the Properties of a particular e-mail and paste it into message
rules it is accepted with the spaces, but I can't enter spaces from the
keyboard on the XP machine.
I am puzzled!
