Hi Jenn,

Are you using identities? To keep the address entries separate export the
entries from each Windows Address Book as a comma-separated values file. It
is also possible to use vCard files. Note: there is only one Windows Address
Book that offers different views for each identity.

Can you provide any more information on the old set-up? Are the email
accounts with one ISP where the second account is an alias (same account,
different name)? Are the personal and work messages sorted using message
rules?

The messages on the old PC could be dragged to a Windows folder, the folder
burned on CD, saved on the XP PC and then dragged to an OE folder. This
might help keep them separated, but I'd wait for a second opinion.

More Information on the WAB

NOTE: This step is very important when multiple Identities are in use. A
.WAB (Windows Address Book) file is used by Outlook Express 5.x and 6.0
versions, even if multiple Identities are used. The individual data for each
Identity is stored in a folder, by user name, within the .WAB file in use.

Exporting this data, while logged in to a specific Identity, is the only
means of segregating the Address Book data. If the .WAB file becomes
dissociated from the user Identities, the data can only be exported in
total - not folder by folder.

Another reason to export the .WAB file to a .csv file is that if the .WAB
file is shared with Microsoft Outlook, the addresses are stored in the *.pst
file in Outlook. When you export the file from the Outlook Express File menu
to a *.csv file it exports the correct contacts. If the Address Book is
shared with Microsoft Outlook, you are not able to export from within the
Address Book on the File menu. This option is dimmed or not available.

file/settings from Windows 98 and everything seemed to work fine. I have
two email accounts on OE (personal and work) and after the transfer, all of
my address contacts from both accounts and stored messages from both
accounts all went into ONE. How can I separate these? I've double and
triple checked and I have my servers and accounts set up correctly. I just
can't understand why this happening and how to fix it. Also, it seems like
I'm only getting some of my emails and those that I do receive are all
dumping into my personal account, and they should be going to my work
account.
