If you want the answer, return here. If you have the time to post here,
you have the time to return here to check for replies. Don't be rude.

Check with RoadRunner. They may require that you authenticate to their
mail servers when you are not connected on their network. They don't
know who you are because you never authenticated with them. So try
adding your username and password to both the inbound (POP3) and
outbound (SMTP) servers.
If RoadRunner permits off-domain access to their mail servers, they may
do so using non-standard ports. They may also require you to enable SSL
(to encrypt your authentication so it cannot be sniffed out by the other
network which you are using or between them and RoadRunner's network).
They may require you to enable SPA (Secure Password Authentication).
All of which should be explained either by help pages on their web site
or by simply calling them.
They may not permit off-network access to their SMTP server all all to
prevent spammers from abusing their mail servers but then these spammers
must've cracked your username and password (but which is often not that
difficult considering users' penchant for using their names as usernames
and simple passwords susceptible to dictionary attacks). You need to
check with RoadRunner if they allow off-network access to their mail
servers.
They will probably allow unfettered access to their POP3 server (so you
can read your incoming e-mails). However, for their SMTP server, they
may require that you also authenticate to it (you can opt to reuse your
authentication from the POP3 connect or enter it independently), or they
may use a non-standard setup for access when you come from off their
network, if they allow off-network access at all. Call RoadRunner.
You're paying them so ask their tech support for the details.
