If Steve's suggestion about the uninstall/reinstall as outlined in the KB
article does not fix it, then you may be looking at a complete new install
of the operating system. You have plenty of time to backup essential data
now, if that is the long range plan and it certainly might be a more
attractive procedure than the continued attempt to fix a bad situation that
only seems to get worse. Good luck.
