Conflict: MS Cumulative Patch for OE6 vs. Norton Internet Security

Several days ago Microsoft's Cumulative Security Update for Outlook
Express (OE) 6 Service Pack 1 (KB837009) automatically downloaded and
installed itself on my computer, among other new Windows updates.
Norton Internet Security (NIS) and Norton Anti Virus (NAV) were open
and enabled.
Ever since, whenever I open OE, the following message pops up:

Program Error
IAMAPP.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.
You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created.

Thereafter NIS closes, and its icon disappears from the system tray.
Needless to say, I can't find anywhere on my computer any *.log file
that looks relevant (not that I would understand anything of it would
I have found it...).

The same happens even when I disable NIS before opening OE.

Please HELP!!
