Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

As far as I see, MSKB doesn't even address uninstalling
OE6, and what's worse, IE's or OE's readme(s) don't
address uninstalling IE or even OE6 (except for IE
w/Windows NT/XP/2000).

I can only find a remotely relative article to
repairing/reinstalling OE6 and it only actually addresses
such for OE5 and 5.01, ref.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;263453.

This kind of no support and no info sharing of a fairly
long outstanding issue (one amongst many I see) has forced
this YouHoosier to mooch around for such advise as to try
running a switch ("C:\WINDOWS\Windows Update Setup
Files\ie6setup.exe" /c:"ie6wzd /e:MailNews /I:Y") to see
if IE will then fix it's OE.

Even considering trying to mess with my OE's registry
by "Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active
Setup\Installed Components\{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-
00AAOOB6015C} and if there is (like there wouldn't be) a
value IsInstalled (1) - change it to 0 (zero). Then IE
should see OE as uninstalled and reinstall it.

YouHoosiers of Win98/Win98SE 'simply' are left to jumping
head first into the lake despite how deep the water may or
may not be. Did I say that?

Seems like eventually someone's bound to force MS to
release the info on OE repairs/reinstalls. I am only left
to guess that following one of the two sets of
instructions will result in my problematic OE6's fix.

Just wish I could count on my stored e-mails and address
book to be unaffected by my efforts, but there to it seems
like pulling teeth to get anything from M$ on that or much
else.

Hope I helped. Sorry for the attitude and non-secular
admonishments, but it seems to help me. I think.

YouHoosier.
