Newgroup Messages disappear

I had downloaded most of the messages from various Microsoft Newsgroups to
get up to speed on a few areas. Today I went into Outlook Express and found
that most messages that had been previouly downloaded had disappeared. Only
the last few days were left. Can anyone help as it takes a lot of time to
download these messages and bandwidth cost.
