Try going to Tools | Options | Read | Fonts and set it to Western as default. Then see if that fixes it.

If not, then try a File | Folder | Compact all in OE and clear the Temporary Internet Files in IE and delete all offline content. Then run a defrag and reboot and see if that fixes it.
