When I try to Compact All Folders the process starts to compact some folders
but then a message pops up stating

'The folder is currently in use by Outlook Express or by another
application'

and goes no further. When I press Ctrl-Alt-Del nothing out of the usual
appears to be running on the PC.
I am running McAfee spam killer. I turned it off and tried to compact the
folders but got the same message.
Using OE 6
Please advise.

Tools>Options>Maintanence. Make sure "Compact messages in background" is
unchecked.

File>Work Offline - File>Folder>Compact all folders.

See if this works.
