I am with you on this one. If a document is more than a few lines and / or
someone has interleaved a reply it can be much easier to read a printed
version. Where the window is small e.g. web based Community
newsgroups there is an even greater incentive to print.

Gerry,

If you are meaning the old web interface there are things that
you can do to make messages more readable. Examples:
- launch message frame in its own window and then use F11
- do a Ctrl-a (or otherwise select all the text) and paste it
    into a Notepad window.

The new web interface is worse for this because the frames
aren't adjustable and can't be launched in their own windows
but at least you can still use the Notepad trick.

FYI
