The ultimate solution seems a rather drastic step for some kind of
configuration error; I'd have reformatted and reinstalled a dozen times,
last month, using that strategy! ;)

Any addressing quirks in the home office email? Are they going to the same
POP3 server as the other email? The thing about SMTP (which is the sending
side of email) is that email will be delivered properly, as long as the
address is correct, so any issues seem to be with how the MDA is routing the
email; this POP3 (which is the receiving side of email) server, or that POP3
server. Your client can only get email from a particular POP3 server if that
server is getting the email. I am not sure that I see how a routing issue
will be solved by a reinstall.

Oh, and if you have the authority to reinstall, don't you have the authority
to delete the other Identity? I am really rambling here, because I can't
quite put a finger on the problem, given the lack of details; maybe my
thrashing about will trigger some other ideas, though.
