John, to which forum did you post, http://forums.spywareinfo.com or
http://forum.aumha.org/? I don't see any posts resembling your problem(s)
at either one. (The former was moved to a new server recently, BTW. The
link will works though.)

Have you tried lowering your graphic display acceleration a notch or two, as
suggest earlier?

Have you contacted Toshiba via email or telephone?

There are some nasties out there which actually disable NAV's AutoProtect
though the application appears to you that it's fully functional, complete
with automatic updates. Try scanning the system using at least two (2) of
the free online scans which follow; each requires ActiveX to be enabled:

(FWIW you weren't the only one sideswiped by the flu.)
