You're very welcome MoomMist and a Happy New Year to you as well. You would
only have MS JVM in XP if you installed it. Neither Sun JRE nor MS JVM is
included with XP. You have to install one or both Java runtimes.
In you original post, I read 'erasing' as you not being able to see the
applet displayed. In your last reply you said: "OE is erasing the script in
the source code" which clarifies it now. With Sun JRE only installed, if I
put an applet tag in the source, the params are stripped from the applet tag
when I save the message in OE. Of course with Sun JRE only installed it is
pointless to put an applet tag in the source anyway since the applet won't
display in OE or Windows Mail and that's why I came up with the alternative
'applet in iframe' method where the applet tag only is displayed in an
iframe.
In IE, if you go to 'Tools' > 'Internet Options' > 'Advanced' tab and scroll
down, do you see a heading: 'Java VM' and an item: 'Java Console enabled
(requires restart)'? I don't have those since I have Sun JRE only installed.
Also, do you see a heading: 'Java (Sun) and an item something like: 'Use JRE
1.6.0_07 for <applet> (requires restart)'?
In control panel do you have a 'Java' icon for the Sun 'Java Control Panel'?
What happens if you go to 'Start' > 'Run' and enter: wjview? Also, if you
look in C:\Windows\System32 do you see a file: 'msjava.dll?
If you can see applets in OE by others that are made the traditional way
with the applet tag in the source, then my best guess is that you have MS
JVM installed and maybe it is corrupt. I am unaware of anyone else having
the unique problem that you're having with applets.

Thank you Richard,
I can see applets that are sent to me in OE and can see them in both of the
files that you enclosed. It is when I try to send them that OE is erasing
the script in the source code.
I'm now thinking that it is perhaps a particular applet that I'm using and
now will try some of the more common ones like a snow or lake.
The two that I recently tried were jhanabi.
I will try the other, I believe I have MS JVM install as I'm running Windows
XP
Appreciate you answering me.
Happy New Year!

MoomMist, the reason that you cannot see applets in OE but can in IE is
probably because you have Sun JRE only installed. If you open the zipped and
attached .eml file you probably will be able to see the applet in OE since
it uses an 'applet in iframe' method to display the appplet in OE
stationery.
The 'applet in iframe' method seems to work fine for eveyone with OE,
including those with Sun JRE only installed (whether or not they have MS JVM
installed). The 'applet in iframe' method does not work for everyone with
Windows Mail. Also in the attached zipped file is an .mht file which is
exactly the same as the .eml file, only with a different filename extension.
The .mht file probably will work in Windows Mail for those for whom the .eml
file doesn't work (or crashes Windows Mail). The .eml file works fine for me
in both OE and Windows Mail, but that's not the case for everyone with
Windows Mail (seems to be about 50%-50%). The problem may be with DEP in
Vista.
Applet stationeries created the old way as they have been done for years
will not display the applet for anyone with Sun JRE only installed, not in
OE, and not in Windows Mail. You would have to install MS JVM to view them
and I advise against doing so since it is no longer supported:
http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/java/default.mspx
....but that's something that everyone will have to decide for themselves.
Many people getting new PCs with Vista are opting not to install MS JVM
which I think is the better decision.
Hope this helps.

hi
I'm new and would like to know why OE is erasing my applets in my
stationery. They work fine in IE as html but when I bring them into OE, all
the applet script is erased.
I'm using IE 7 and OE 6
Thanks for any help.
MoomMist
