Re: Preview window gone

Something in your SP2 install didn't work then. Updating to SP2 should change the info in your mail headers to show version 6.00.2900.2527 to show that inetcomm.dll has been updated and your messages do not show that information in the headers. Either that, or you have installed an older version of inetcomm.dll for reasons that I don't understand.

You can install SP2 safely with your antivirus program disabled and while working offline (not connected to the internet). You do not have to be connected to install it. And your firewall should not be disabled for any reason. Good luck.

Jim.........I just installed SP2 a few days ago from the CD I got from MS.
I always disable NIS/NAV when I install anything. When I click on
Help/About in OE it says: 6.002900.2180(xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)
In IE:  same as above
update versions:;sp2;

Should I download SP2 from the MS website instead of using the CD? Hate to
disable my AV and firewall for that long :-) I have cable but it will still
take a while. I've also read several articles about installing SP2 in safe
mode........is this the way to go?

Thanks for the info.........
Spaz

Maybe a corrupted install caused by an antivirus program running in the background during an update. If there is a check in the Show Preview box, the image should appear unless something has affected the file association for image files. In that case, try changing the file association for all graphic files as outlined at this link: http://www.insideoe.com/problems/bugs.htm#nopreview -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile=F9F51EF1-4AE3-4D23-B2D8-1171988A62D6
