Haunted Mansion
Chapter 21 ~ Epilogue
~~~~~
Today was Harry's memorial service. His
remains were buried next to Elizabeth with Harry Jr. being on her other side.
The marker that had been placed in memory of Sarah had been
removed.
Epilogue
Edward was baptized this morning. We named him
Edward Donique Harrington III after his dad and granddad. Don says we will
name our first daughter Elizabeth Louise after my mother and grandmother.
Edward looks just like the photos of Little Harry. We are truly blessed.
I feel so sorry that Elizabeth, my mother,
didn't get to raise her children. It's no wonder that she seemed to go berserk
after losing both of her children. I'm sure that would do me in also.
Grandmother is the sweetest person I know. She
has made her home with us and just adores the baby. I have to vie for rocker
time with him. I am so happy that she has decided to stay here. We are the
only family she has and I want to make up for lost time. Besides she is
getting older and I am able to take care of her. I just don't feel that
she should be alone. It's great knowing that she is my
own flesh and blood. It's not that I didn't love Melody, I did, but
something always seemed amiss and I could never put my finger on it. I
just feel that I'm complete now, with Grandmother here and
little Eddie and Don. I have never been so happy.
Grandmother has been a great help, filling me
in on the family. I can't believe how Melody was able to get away with my
kidnapping. We lived overseas for several years. Nobody ever suspected that
the papers of my birth were forgeries. I was legally registered as the
daughter of Melody and her late husband. I guess when she felt safe enough to
return back here from overseas, she lived far enough away that nothing
was ever suspicious.
The only
change we made to our home was to seal up the hidden stairway from the maids
quarters to the cellar. The wardrobe is now solid with no hidden panel in it,
and the decorators have flawlessly repaired the wall and
floor.
We left the passage tunnel to the chapel
intact, because it is so nice to use in inclement weather. We did put doors
with locks at both ends though. No more hidden panels to open hidden
doors.
We also electrified it including adding lighting in
the basement and tunnel.
~~~~~
We have not seen an apparition since we laid
my father's remains to rest. I do wish that I could have seen my mother's
spirit again, I felt such a closeness to her that first day I was
here. But I'm so glad that she's now at rest.
~~~~~
Oh what a tale I have for my
children.
Hope you enjoyed my
story.
