Hi,
In response to the Adriana and Robbie postings relative to the issue of
loss of members and the possible demise of this NG, I sent the following to
Mr. Eddy a few minutes ago. Now, I have to go :-)
~Neo~
Good Morning Mr. Eddy,
I recently began to participate in the subject newsgroup. During this
short period of time, I have been extremely impressed by the pool of talent
that resides in the Group. Additionally, the members exceed the limitations
of what would normally be expected, in assisting others with any problems or
answering any questions. This applies not only to OE stationery but the
whole gamut of technical questions relative to use of computers and
Microsoft operating systems platforms.
It is my understanding that many members are "drifting away" or not
participating in the Group due to the limitations on the size of postings;
and, the requirement that they be "broken apart" when submitted and
"recombined and decoded" for reading. I believe the changes were made
approximately nine months ago. Additionally, I understand that the reason
for this is that viruses were being introduced into some News Groups via
attachments, but the OE Stationery Newsgroup seldom uses attachments. I
doubt this savvy Group would open an attachment, in any event, being aware
of the current security problems.
I am writing to briefly describe the situation, as seen by one new
member of the Group. I even refer to myself as "Neophyte;" which I am. :-)
Also, I would respectfully request that you, and your colleagues, institute
whatever action is necessary to reestablish the operating parameters that
existed for the News Group prior to the changes. Perhaps, you could check
some of the postings in the Group to see some of the concerns.
I sincerely appreciate your consideration in this matter and thank you
in advance for any assistance that you and your associates may provide to
resolve this problem. Again, thank you and have a good week!
