Hi Chickie,

Now that MS has won the Browser wars with Netscape (MS has about 80%
of the Brower market now with IE5.5||IE6):

http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

Seems I read here:

http://news.com.com/2100-1032_3-1011859.html

that in the near future they will not offer a free standalone version of IE any more.
IE6 is purported to be the last standalone version of IE||OE.

So it would appear that the only way we will be able to get IE in the coming
future(release of Longhorn) is by purchasing their Operating System.

Sounds like they intend to go back to the pre antitrust lawsuit days:o)

I think Internet explorer and outlook express are freebies.
Can't anyone download IE which also contains the setup for OE ?
It certainly was the case when Netscape was charging for their browser which is prolly the main reason IE overtook Netscape as the browser of choice.

Hi folks ..... been pondering about this question over the last weekend:

Presumed it is true that MS is removing the possibility to send stationery with OE with the release
of SP2.
Is this legal????

Millions and millions of people have bought a product, which, for years and over multiple versions,
with this possibility in it.
It simply comes with the total package. We all have paid money for this product in the expectation
all features of the product will keep on working, no matter what upgrades are available in the
future. MS has always known about weak safety spots in their system (just today MS made public that
last July another very significant weak safety spot was detected by some third comp. and another
patch is available), yet for years and years they turned a blind eye on it.

Imagine, you bought a car with electrical windows .... then, out of the blue, the car company
discovers that the electrical circuit is causing safety problems on the car. They decide to call all
sold cars back and mend the problem by removing the electrical windows. Safety problem solved, but
you get some car back, you did not intentionally buy in the first place ....!!!

Customers should be protected against corporate decisions like this. MS may have a monopoly in this
sector, it doesn't mean they can do whatever they like!

Just my 2 cents.

Helen
