Thanks for your clarifying.

This behavior is expected. Based on my research, the new default security
settings in IE7 block all images on mixed content pages by default. It is
for security reasons. It is recommneded that add trusted sites to the list
to bypass the content checking.

Thanks for you reply.

1, Create a new user account, this will not lose any connection.

As stated in one of my earlier posts I have done this and it had no
effect.

2, Boot into Safe Mode.

This has no effect either.

I have noticed that if I add the site to my list of trusted sites then
the
.png images display correctly. Please note that I have retained the
default
settings and not manually adjusted my security levels, and the problem
arose
immediately after upgrading to IE 7.

Regarding the two suggestions:

1, Create a new user account, this will not lose any connection.

2, Boot into Safe Mode. In Windows XP, we can boot into Safe Mode with
Network.

1. Restart the computer.
2. Keep pressing F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.
3. Choose the Safe Mode with Network, and press Enter.

This option will not lose connection also.

The two methods are helpful to narrow down this issue. Thanks for

I did and posted the results yesterday. I said:

Creating and logging on as a new user makes no difference.

If I cannot connect to the Internet in safe mode I would be unable to
test
it doing this.

For me it seems most likely it is the same bug that affects IE6.
Presumably
someone at Microsoft should know if this was fixed in IE7.

Since the kb 822071 is specificed apply to IE6,the hotfix is
unavailable
for IE7.

That is really the point I am trying to make. This appears to be the
problem, and has only started to happen since I installed IE7.
However
no
fix is available for IE7.

However, I'm unable to reproduce this issue on my side. My IE7
can
render
PNG file perfectly. I noticed that you say IE7 cannot display
some
png
images. That is mean some PNG images do show in IE7. I suspect
this
can
be
cause by the Http stream interruption. I'd like to suggest :

Suggestion 1:
============================
Create another new user profile to test
1. Log on as the Administrator or as a user with administrator
credentials.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. Click User Accounts.
4. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Advanced.
5. In the left pane, click the Users folder.
6. On the Action menu, click New User.
7. Enter the appropriate user information, and then click Create.
8. Logon with the new user account to see if the issue occurs in
the
user
profile.

Suggestion 2:
===============================
We may start the problematic computer in safe mode to see if this
issue
occurs.The steps to boot into safe mode are as below:

Safe Mode loads a minimally protected-mode configuration,
disabling
Windows
device drivers and using the standard VGA display adapter.

1. Restart the computer.
2. Keep pressing F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.
3. Choose the Safe Mode with Network, and press Enter.

Note: Some third party applications and some hardware device
cannot
be
used
during Safe Mode. You will temporarily be unable to connect to
the
Internet
temporarily while in Safe Mode.

If this issue disappears in safe mode, I suspect that it is
related
to
some
third-party services or programs. We may use Clean Boot to
eliminate
third
party interference. To boot into Clean Boot environment:

1. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotation
marks)
in
the Open box, and then click OK.
2. In the Startup tab, click the "Disable All" button.
3. In the Services tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services"
checkbox,
and then click the "Disable All" button.
4. Click OK and restart your computer.

I have just explored IE7 and appear to have the problem
described
in
the
following MS Knowledgebase article:

Symptom: When you view an HTML Web page that contains Portable
Network
Graphics (PNG) images in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, one or
more
of
the
images may not appear. Instead, only the picture placeholder
image
appears.

This article only refers to IE6 and says there is a hot fix
available
by
contacting MS.

The problem only started since I installed IE7. Has anyone else
experienced
this?
