Re: How to overwrite IE6?

Hi,
Which OS? The section of
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 starting with "Windows
XP and Windows XP SP1: Edit the registry and install Internet Explorer 6"
dhould work with other versions of Windows.

But, instability in Internet Explorer is often caused by third-party
programs, toolbars, BHOs, malware, etc.

Clear the IE cache and set it to 50-60 MB.

Then...
Start by running BHODemon 2.0 from
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3550.html The offender may simply be a
BHO. If running XP SP2... IE> Tools> Manage add-ons.

Then you should also download, update and run Ad-aware, Spybot and (if
running WinXP) MS Anti-Spyware (Beta.)

Some malware must be removed manually. You may have to register and post a

proper forum and an "Important- Read This First" message so that you follow
proper procedure.

Or...
A legitimate program running in the background may be causing this. Disable
(for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers, security,
toolbars and other add-ons for IE, anti-virus, etc. Take a look at any
program that might be interfering with IE. You may have to reinstall, or not
reinstall, a program.
