How save web pages for offline use, mht doesn't work

I'm using IE6, would like to save (snapshot) certain web pages for offline
(that is, when an Internet connection isn't present...and to preserve the
web page if a provider takes down the web page later)
Here are problems...
1) GOOD WHEN WORKS. Save as "mht" works great sometimes, *but* seems like
some web pages "block" this... when try, IE6 it says something about can't
save web... Any workarounds?
2) BAD, WON'T WORK OFFLINE. Save as Web page html only, but this seems to
"require" that I be online
3) BAD, TOO MANY FOLDERS. Save as Web Complete splatters folders
everywhere...I just want one file
4) BAD, HARD TO READ. Save as txt is simple, but is hard to read.
Isn't there "any" way to take a permanent snapshot (other than mht, that
doesn't always work) of a web page, so I can view it OFFLINE anytime?
Thanks,
G
.
