Window scaling on 1400x1050 Dell Laptop display

XP IE6 SP2 window contents are scaled up on my Dell 510m laptop. An image or
frame 700pixels wide fills 2/3 of the screen rather than 1/2 the 1400x1050
screen. Text looks fine but images such as the Microsoft Logo are badly
aliased and blocky. The problem is peculiar to IE6 - Firefox is OK. How can I
set up IE so that a 1000 pixel wide column or page actually displays 1000
pixels wide? Thanks ...
