    Hi Andy,

    Thanks for your posting here.

Does the problem occur if you create a new user account and login using the
    new user profile?

Now let's try the following steps to change the Accessibility settings in
    Internet Explorer.

    1. In Internet Explorer, click "Tools", and then click "Internet Options".
    2. Click the "General" tab, and then click "Accessibility".
    3. Click to clear all check boxes.
    4. Click "OK".

In addition, please also try these setps to restore default settings.

    1. Close all the windows and open Control Panel.
    2. Select the Internet Options item.
    3. On the Advanced tab, click "Restore Defaults".
    4. Clear the "Enable third-party browser extensions" option
    5. Apply the change.

If the problem still persists, let's try to register key .dll files for
    Internet Explorer:

    1. Click "Start", and then click "Run".

    2. In the "Open" box, type:

            ""<Primary Hard Drive Letter>:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\iexplore.exe" /rereg" (without the quotation marks)

    3. Click "OK".

    Have a nice day!

    Regards,
    Bob Qin

After clearing up a major virus and spyware program I've sp2'd the xp
machine but now pages in internet explorer look weird. The fonts are
absolutely huge, for example the two buttons on google.com are twice
the width (in total) of the google logo. Also backgrounds in tables
and pages are not getting loaded. So a page like msn looks very
strange. I've posted examples on my blog at
          http://www.absoblogginlutely.net/mtblogarchive/004550.php Another
example is that my main blog site doesn't have the background image
and everything is just (large) black text on a white background,
links are in blue. so its ignoring style sheets for colours (but the
layout, controlled by stylesheets is correct)

Changing the font size in view/fonts has little effect - it changes
the text in google but not the button sizes for example.
The system is not set to use a specific css file and all the boxes in
          the accessablity field are clear.

This problem has been posted several times in the newsgroups but from
what i see, there has not been any answer posted.
This has really got me stumped.Any ideas on what could be causing
this? Naturally firefox on the same machine works fine.
